How this all began
The work of Prabhat Alloi began in early 2009, when Australian Helen (Shivanii) Cameron and Sanjay Mahato, village head man of Dabar village, Purulia visited a snakecharmer village (Loharsol) in the Purulia district of West Bengal, where people were living in appalling conditions. They were both determined to do something to help bridge the huge gap between the lifestyle of these people and of those in the city. The Maleny community came on board and raised funds for housing, medical care and water facilities for ‘the snake village’.
