Boys’ Hostel and Girls Home Support

Our original children’s home opened in Dabar in 2010, with seven village children aged between four and twelve years old, who did not have safe homes. In most cases, the parents were away working, returning only every six months, and the children were being raised by the villagers, who referred them to us. Being located in an extension to Tinku’s family home, the children had the close protection of his family, as well as the added support of two house mothers. The children thrived under the loving care and guidance of a nurturing family.

In 2016, a new boys’ hostel was opened in the grounds of the tuition centre to accommodate. There have been up to 30 boys living in this hostel or being cared for in their family homes. The girls are now being supported in their family environment, more according to local custom.

In current circumstances, under Covid-19 restrictions, all the children are back living with parents or extended family, and Prabhat Alloi is assisting families with the provision of essential food and household items.
